The Company

My client is hands-down, the industry’s leading importer of motorcycle clothing accessories.  We’ve really enjoyed working with their field sales team on a range of sales training workshops recently.  (I’m making that point to highlight that they invest in their staff.) And, if the field sales team is a model for the people that they attract into the business, you really need to be passionate for the product, dedicated, customer/dealer focused and driven for success.  Together with strong leadership and a great culture, their extensive and in-demand range and reputation has seen the business grow year on year and as such, require the services of a seasoned and strategic Key Account Manager to build on their record achievements.

 

The Role

Based in Sydney and reporting directly to the National Sales Manager, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for developing closer business-to-business relationships with their top customers.  These customers are successful and very commercial.  They have a number of dealerships – some represented nationally and you will be required to manage and develop long-term relationships at head office level.  At your disposal, will be the field sales team to support individual dealer relationships, promotions, stock levels, product training, etc.

 

About You

You should have already picked up on that you need to have a passion for motorcycles.  Blended with this will be your successful sales career, a must is your demonstrated success in a key account management role.  It’s not critical that you’ve worked in this industry, but aligned industries will be viewed favourably.  You will need to demonstrate how you have successfully developed relationships with large organisations and how sales have increased through strategic account planning.

 

Naturally, your personality and motivations also need to be aligned to the business.  The business and industry is fast-paced and you’ll be working with some of the most passionate individuals so you too also need to reflect this.
