Dealer Development Manager – Motorcycle Industry

My client has worked hard to be regarded as one of the industry’s leading importers of motorcycles and scooters. Their two highest-selling products are hands down, the most recognised (and coolest!) brands in the two-wheeled world. Our organisation has really enjoyed working with their sales team on a range of sales training workshops recently. (I’m making that point to highlight that they invest in their staff.) And, one observation that we have made from being in the classroom is that their sales team is really passionate in their product, the success of their dealers and in particular, knowing that if their dealers grow, they grow too. Together with strong leadership and a great culture, they are searching for a seasoned and strategic Dealer Manager to continue their growth plans.
Based in Melbourne and reporting directly to the National Sales & Marketing Manager, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for developing closer business-to-business relationships with Dealers throughout Victoria and Tasmania. Make no mistake – your role is to increase the amount of revenue and margin to each dealership. But, in order to achieve this you will be required to be a business consultant – helping Dealers with their stock levels, positioning of product, their sales performance, data analysis, product training, etc. By helping each dealership improver their business, your relationship with them will grow and therefore your sales and volumes will also grow! There aren’t a lot of dealers throughout the region so you have plenty of time to be able to spend with each dealer – including a trip to Tasmania every six weeks and Regional Victoria every quarter.
You should have already picked up on that you need to have a passion for motorcycles. Blended with this will be your successful sales career, a must is your demonstrated success working in a wholesale sales environment and/or selling to dealerships. It’s not critical that you’ve worked in this industry, but aligned industries will be viewed favourably. You will need to demonstrate how you have successfully developed relationships and how sales have increased through strategic account planning. My client is also interested to understand how you organize your schedule and what additional character traits you have in order to advance your career as a long-term employee of this terrific business.
